Schreiber Grit Classifier

Schreiber’s Grit Classifier washes and dewaters the slurry from grit removal systems. It’s easy handling and grit transferring features make final disposal a simple process. The grit classifier is effective over a wide range of grit particle sizes, including sugar sand.

When the grit slurry is transferred to the grit classifier, the inlet flow is directed diagonally downward. As grit settles, a shaftless screw carries the grit from the bottom of the hopper to the discharge, further washing and dewatering it. Decanted water flows over a weir and returns to the waste stream, while the dewatered grit travels into a container for disposal. Operators can get easy access to the grit through a hinged, lightweight hatch and a hinged weir box.

Fully enclosed and constructed of 304 stainless steel for corrosion protection and a long service life, Schreiber’s Grit Classifier is equipped with an easy-to-remove 304 stainless steel replaceable liner. A hardened steel shaftless screw requires no submerged bearing, resulting in low maintenance. The Grit Classifiers are available in two sizes: a 12” diameter for flow rates up to 150 gpm, and a 20” diameter for flow rates of up to 300 gpm. Options include motors rated from TEFC to Class 1 Division 1, internal heating elements, flexible direction discharge, and multiple inlet configurations.
